Information

My students are able to learn more each and every day. Take a look at a unit that they will explore more!

Unit Rational

Biological Change: Unity and Diversity

In this unit, fourth-grade students will learn what a fossil is and how it can provide information about the past. Students may not understand the concept of the age of the Earth or that there are organisms that are extinct today. Students will learn about fossils and learn about the past by having an archaeologist come and present to the students to show what a fossil looks like. The archaeologist will present what it is, how old it is, where it possibly could have come from, and the impact it has today. Students will create their own image of a fossil and find where that fossil came from and its impact in the past, while also exploring through technology more about fossils and grasping the concept of different points in time. By learning more about fossils, students will have a better understanding of Earth and the impact it has today. When students grasp this concept, they will have investigative skills of causation with the past and where things went if extinct. Students will be able to learn more about past life forms and have a foundational basis of what a fossil is when learning more about fossil fuels in future studies.
